What is a Colourstudy? A painter’s colour study (in Dutch: kleurstudie van een schilder) is a preparatory painting (or sketch) in which an artist experiments with colors, light, and composition. The purpose is to explore how colors interact with each other, what mood they evoke, and how they influence the shapes or emotions in the work.
